Walking in the Forests
The Great Glen is a fantastic place to walk and there are many trails available.
The Forestry Commission is a Government organisation responsible for the forests in Scotland. One of their briefs is to provide access to the publc for recreation and enjoyment. In the Fort William and Great Glen area we are very lucky to have an active area office which over the past 20 years has developed some of the most wonderful paths and walkways for people to explore and enjoy.
Leannachan Forest which stretches from Torlundy to Spean Bridge in the shadow of Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range of mountains provides almost 35 kilometres of forest paths to cycle or walk.
A visit To Nevis Range mountain centre will provide you with brochures and maps of the forest. You can also visit the Forestry Commission website for loads of information.
