Visitor centres in the Glencoe area
Glencoe has a number of interesting visitor centres which include an ice climbing wall, the historic glencoe NTS, a folk museum & slate quarry
The Glencoe and Kinlochleven area has a small selection of visitor centres where you can find out about local history, or learn about something specific. In Ballachullich the slate quarry story is interesting as the slate from this quarry was exported all over the UK. In Glencoe village, the Glencoe Folk Museum has lots of interesting stories to tell... and in Kinlochleven, The Ice Factor provides excellent indoor climbing walls for enthusiasts. Kinlochleven also has a heritage museum which tells the history of the British Aluminium Co and the smelter which was built here in the 1920s. Down at Glenachulish is Dragon's Tooth golf course and club, where you can try your hand at archery, segways, paint-balling - or golf !
Glencoe also has an excellent National Trust for Scotland centre and an outdoor mountain centre for winter sports and summer visitors.
Along the shore of Loch Leven is a sea-food outlet which is also a good place to stop for a coffee and enjoy the scenery - or even stay for lunch
