Welcome to Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland

and our Fort William Destination website

A big welcome awaits you in Fort William - the Outdoor Capital of the UK. We are world famous for the huge variety of outdoor activities available and of course we have the highest mountain in the UK. Fort William and Lochaber is also one of the most historic places in Scotland - the Jacobites, Glenfinnan and the Old Fort William and Inverlochy Castle ruin are just a few examples of our amazing history.

Fort William is the largest town in the Highlands along with the villages of Inverlochy, Caol, Banavie and Corpach which make up the greater township around the shore of beautiful Loch Linnhe.

If you are looking to visit Fort William for a short stay please use our interactive map to see what’s available when you plan your stay. There is an extensive selection of excellent accommodation types including B&B, guesthouses, cottages, chalets, hotels and pods. We also have three fantastic camping parks where you can choose from a variety of quality accommodation.

Fort William has a large number of outdoor guides, taxi tour operators and activity providers if you wish to go on day trips exploring the outdoors. Arrange for a Ben Nevis mountain guide to give you a memorable day out on the highest mountain in the UK; take a superb boat trip and day fishing trip on Loch Linnhe; explore beautiful Glen Nevis on foot; take a train out to Mallaig for the day and visit the most remote pub on the British mainland; Hire some electric mountain bikes and discover Leannachan Forest; visit our marina at Corpach and enjoy a morning coffee as the steam train goes past; Try sea kayaking with an experienced guide. There is so much to do in the Fort William and Lochaber area - consider slowing down and staying for two nights or more to experience the true Highlands.
