The Ben Nevis Race attracts around 500 competitors each year and is one of Fort William's oldest outdoor activity events in the area. The idea is simply to run from the Town Park to the summit of Ben Nevis and all the way back again - as fast as you can!
Current record is 1hr, 24mins !
The event is a great spectator event on a good day, when you can sit by the side of the Ben Nevis Mountain Footpath and watch all the runners go by. It provides lots of opportunities for photos and video.
The Ben Nevis Race Association, who organise the event, provide financial support to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team.
On the day of the event you can always go for a cruise on Loch Linnhe afterwards and enjoy a meal at Ben Nevis Inn.
